TARGETS

(1) Explain the basic purpose of PowerPoint.
(2) Identify basic screen elements ("real estate") of PowerPoint

Assessment

(1) PowerPoint is a presentation software program that is part of the Microsoft Office package. It is used in business and educational settings worldwide. Presentations can include music, narrations, animations, video clips, charts, photos, text, and much more. Click here for Assessment

(3) PowerPoint Basics:
add new slide, delete slide, change background color of slide and text box, change border color, size and style of text box; insert, move and delete pictures, frame picture with border, move, modify and delete text box, modify font size, style and color, modify alignment of text.

(5) (6) C.R.A.P. Principals:
Contrast(I CAN CLEARLY SEE YOUR TEXT AND PICTURES)
If two elements are different, then make them DIFFERENT. Think of this as the opposite of blending. Example: the background and font color are distinctly different.
Repetition
(TEXT AND SLIDE COLOR REPEAT)
Elements between and among slides recur. Think of this as consistency. 
Example: the font color on each slide is the same style and color.
Alignment
(THINGS LINE UP)
The intentional placement of text and graphics. Think of this as associations. Example: if three bullet points are under one heading, those three bullet points are all lined up the same way (such as left aligned).
Proxmity - (SQUISHED IS BAD) The nearness of elements. Think of this as busy vs. blah and positive vs. negative space. Example: If the elements are crammed together, it is too busy and it lacks negative space. If the slide has too much negative space, it lacks appeal, therefore detracting from the presentation. Our eyes and brain need negative space in order to know where to focus (the positive space), but too much negative space puts us to sleep!
